Group 4 metal initiators for the controlled stereoselective polymerization of lactide monomers.
Group 4 metal initiators with a tetradentate bis(phenolato) ligand polymerized meso-lactide efficiently under ring-opening to give syndiotactic polylactide. L-Lactide was converted faster than rac-lactide and meso-lactide.
متن کاملrac-Lactide Polymerization with Copper(II) Complexes
Stereocontrolled coordination-insertion polymerization of rac-lactide remains a catalytic challenge despite the large number of studies and the successful marketing of polylactide as a disposable plastic. Although a number successful catalysts have been proposed, a system re-uniting high stereoselectivity with high activity and chemical robustness remains absent. We have been recently concentra...
متن کاملComparison of polymerization of ancrod and thrombin fibrin monomers.
The polymerization of thrombin and ancrod fibrin monomers was studied with a standardized technique that evaluated turbidity changes and protein incorporation into the clot. Ancrod fibrin monomers were found to polymerize more slowly and form less turbid clots (at identical protein concentrations). Changes in ionic strength and pH influences ancrod fibrin monomer polymerization to a greater ext...
متن کاملMetal-Size Influence in Iso-Selective Lactide Polymerization**
Iso-selective initiators for the ring-opening polymerization (ROP) of rac-lactide are rare outside of Group 13. We describe the first examples of highly iso-selective lutetium initiators. The phosphasalen lutetium ethoxide complex shows excellent iso-selectivity, with a P(i) value of 0.81-0.84 at 298 K, excellent rates, and high degrees of polymerization control. Conversely, the corresponding L...
متن کاملZinc-Catalyzed Highly Isoselective Ring Opening Polymerization of rac-Lactide
A family of chiral zinc amido-oxazolinate complexes are shown to be highly active and isoselective initiators for the ring-opening polymerization (ROP) of rac-lactide, yielding isotactic stereoblock polylactides (PLA) with Pm up to 0.91. This represents the highest isoselectivity observed with zinc-based catalysts for ROP of rac-lactide.
